The Phone Line Is Gone!

It took almost a month of back and forth with Verizon, but today they finally came and removed their phone line and box from the side of my house. They didn’t remove the line entirely, it’s coiled up and taped to the phone line stretching between poles in front of my house, but at least it’s out of the way and I don’t have their equipment connected anymore.

[Update 11/14/2014] (The year is not a typo)
Verizon sent someone out today to remove the rest of the wire that had been coiled up on the line between utility poles for almost a year and a half.

  1. I have been dreaming about having this done to my house in the DC area for months. Your post inspired me to call Verizon. They said someone would be out soon to take down the line. Hopefully it will all work out!

    • The ugly coil of wire is still sitting there taped to the lines in front of my place, even after Verizon was working on the pole near my house to help out a neighbor with another issue a few months ago, but at least it’s not connected to my house.

  2. Hi! I have been dealing with the exact same issue. Do you know what number to call? I cannot find the exact 800 # and get transfer around and it takes hours and no one seems to be able to help me. I am ready to cut it myself. I am in SoCal.

  3. this is a great post, thanks! we have a cabin and I want this ugly wire and box taken down too. believe it or not, the wire is an entry point for ants walking along and into the wall! I joked that we should just remove it ourselves (who would know?!) but I guess I’ll make the call(s) to get it done properly.

    • I would not mess with the telephone companies equipment. My solution would be to seal the wire going into the house with a good caulk. Also if you’re keeping resale value of your cabin or house in mind I don’t think removing the demarc box is really the best idea. I would live with it
Once you could do is put a box over it.
