Today has been stressful. It was largely my own fault due to procrastination and allowing things to pile up on me. That, combined with a lack of sleep and I was in a fabulous mood for most of the day. It seemed like just when I was getting ahead on a project that had been kicking my butt, something else would come along and try to distract me with how important it was. Sorry, you need to be done right now? You can get on the “Right Now” list along with everyone else.

Thankfully I was able to work through the project that had been overwhelming me, but I still had a huge list of things that needed to get done. As my day at the office drew to a close I was dreading how I’d be coming in tomorrow to a huge list of things that need to be done “yesterday” and more tasks that will surely come my way. Then, my phone rang.

It was a friend I hadn’t heard from in far too long, just calling to say hello. It wasn’t a long conversation, but knowing that someone was thinking of me immediately changed my mood for the better. I still have a litany of obligations, but they seem more manageable now. Is there someone that you haven’t reached out to in a while? Why not make their day and give them a call to see how they’re doing?
